Essex’s Graham to play softball for Doane

ESSEX — Essex High School athlete Kym Graham will continue her athletic career for another four years at the collegiate level.

Graham signed a letter of intent earlier this month to play softball for Doane College in Crete, Neb.

Graham has played softball at Essex for four seasons now, dating back to her eighth grade year in 2011.

Her most recent season ended with Graham hitting .275 with an .865 OPS and 22 hits, including two home runs, 16 RBI and 26 runs scored.

As a junior, Graham was a unanimous first-team all-Corner Conference selection and was a first-team selection for the Red Oak Express All-Area team.

In four seasons with Essex, Graham has played 93 games and has a .325 batting average with four home runs and 73 runs scored.

In addition to softball, Graham has also been a top star for Essex in basketball, volleyball and track.

Doane plays in the Great Plains Athletic Conference in NAIA.

The Tigers are off to a great start thus far in 2015. They’re 16-6 and 2-0 in the GPAC after sweeping Mount Marty college over the weekend.
