Essex loses to Bedford and Riverside on the road

BEDFORD—The Essex Trojanettes volleyball team lost both of its matches as part of a triangular against Bedford and Riverside on Thursday.

Essex lost to Bedford 2-1 and Riverside 2-0.

Against Bedford, Essex lost the first game 25-15, but won game two 25-19. Bedford won the third game 15-6.

The Trojanettes had 11 kills against Bedford, with five coming courtesy of Kym Graham. Regan Burns had four kills and Sara Skalberg and Jescenia Mosley each had one.

Essex had 14 blocks in the match, with five coming courtesy of Amber Ohnmacht.

Against Riverside, the score was 25-12 and 25-9.

Burns had four kills to lead Essex. Skylar Ross had seven digs and Seana Perkins finished with four assists. Graham, Mosley and Ohnmacht each had three blocks to lead Essex.

The Trojanettes began last Tuesday with a 25-15, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-14 win against the South Page Rebels.

Graham’s 11 kills out of 14 attack attempts was a team-high. Skalberg had seven kills, Mosley had five and Burns had three. Both Perkins and Ciara Burnison had 21 of the team’s 28 assists. Perkins had 11 assists, while Burnison finished with 10.

Essex had 21 serving aces against South Page. Perkins, Ross and Ausha Gay each had five to lead the team.

The Trojanettes will be on the road Tuesday night when they take on the Sidney Cowgirls.
