FAIR TIME

The 2016 version of the Montgomery County Fair formally kicks off today at the Fairgrounds Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.Brian LeRette, president of the fair board, will welcome fairgoers. That will be followed by the announcement of the Montgomery County Fair Hall of Fame, the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame induction, Rotary Club “Service Above Self” awards; presentation of the John Hossle Scholarship; a bake sale of food and nutrition exhibits; and finally, the coronation of the 2016 Fair Queen.All of the week’s fair activities are outlined in a special section inside this edition of The Red Oak Express. Fair week events began Sunday afternoon at the Wilson Performing Arts Center. There, contests were held for table setting, communications, educational presentations, clothing, and share-the-fun entries. Thursday in the grandstand, there is an ATV race. Friday night’s entertainment is the bull riding. Saturday night features the demolition derby followed by B Side 3 in concert. In the auditorium Saturday night, Rock N’ Country Band performs.
