Fern A. Smith Olson, 83

Fern A. Smith Olson, 83, of Villisca, formerly of Red Oak, passed away Dec. 5, 2010, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.  
Fern Aluia Smith Olson was born March 31, 1927, in Red Oak, the daughter of William Harold and Anna Marie (Bailey) Young. She married Carlton Cecil Smith on Dec. 10, 1944, at the First Christian Church in Red Oak.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1972.  She married Harold “Eugene” Olson on Aug. 25, 1973, at the First Covenant Church in Red Oak.  
Survivors include her daughters:  Carolyn Cecile Templeton of Villisca, and Elva Marie Stupp of Stanhope, Iowa; many step-children including: Candice Dial of Hastings, and Brenda Hall of Kansas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters:  Lois Schmid of Red Oak, and Linda Wankum of Garden City, Kan.
Funeral services were held Dec. 9 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating.  Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
