Football Round-Up: Villisca falls to FM, EM beats Woodbine
Fremont-Mills 78, Villisca 6
Fremont-Mills is now 5-0 to start the season and 3-0 in 8-man District 8, following their win over the Villisca Blue Jays.
The Knights scored seven rushing touchdowns, with Nate Meier and AJ Scarborough responsible for two each. Meier had two carries for 62 yards, while Scarborough had three for 52.
Josh Larsen had two returns for a touchdown, one a kick-off and the other a punt return.
Villisca’s loss puts them at 0-5 for the season and 0-2 in district play. They’re on the road this Friday night to face the East Mills Wolverines.
Fremont-Mills will take on the Stanton Vikings in Tabor Friday night.
East Mills 57, Woodbine 10
East Mills remains the other undefeated team in District 8 following their blowout win against Woodbine. Luke Schafer passed for six touchdowns, including a 61-yard pass to Kaleb Richter. Richter, who had 151 yards receiving, caught three of Schafer’s six touchdowns.
Schafer completed 14-of-19 for 357 yards. Charlie Ruff caught five passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
Treynor 42, Griswold 19
Griswold is now 3-2 on the season following a loss to the Treynor Cardinals. The Tigers had two rushing touchdowns in the game, courtesy of Devin Bates and Kenneth Clary. Bates also had a touchdown pass, as he finished the game completing 6-of-13 for 95 yards, with three interceptions.
Chase Jahnke was the leading rusher with 17 carries for 73 yards. Garrett Muhlbauer was behind Jahnke with 65 yards .
Griswold will host their homecoming this week, but will face a tough challenge in St. Albert, who is undefeated.
