Four arrested on meth charges

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — An ongoing drug investigation resulted in three methamphetamine arrests in Montgomery County.

According to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, the first arrest occurred Feb. 28, when David Allan Crum, 49, of Atlantic, was taken into custody in the 100 block of West High Street in Villisca.

Crum was arrested on a Class C Felony charge of delivery of methamphetamine, and incarcerated on a $50,000 bond.

Then in the early morning hours on Mach 9, the Sheriff’s department executed two search warrants in Villisca.

Deputies executed the first warrant at 700 South 7th Avenue at about 2:54 a.m. As a result of the search, Gary Hightshoe, 55, of Villisca was arrested and charged with five counts of delivery of methamphetamine and a felon in possession of a firearm, both felony charges. The firearm was a high-powered rifle.

A second warrant was executed at 208 E 4th Street at about 3:55 a.m. As a result, Stephanie Gay, 45, of Villisca, was arrested on charges of three counts of delivery of methamphetamine and one count of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.

Montgomery County Sheriff Joe Sampson said the investigation has been ongoing for “quite a while,” and other arrests are expected.

In addition to the methamphetamine and the rifle, deputies also confiscated marijuana and about $2,400.

Unrelated to the Sheriff’s department investigation, Martin LeRoy LaFollette was also arrested in Red Oak on a felony charge of intent to deliver methamphetamine Tuesday, March 8.

LaFollette was arrested in the 100 block of W. Market Street by the Red Oak Police Department. He was also charged with Operating While Intoxicated (drugs) first offense, a misdemeanor.

All four of the suspects remain in custody on $50,000 bonds.
