French, Subbert, Sorenson, once again all-state selections
DES MOINES — Several area volleyball players were selected for the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s (IGCA) All-State Team, released last Monday.
Red Oak High School’s Gabi French and Stanton High School’s Carmen Subbert were both selected as second team honorees in their volleyball class.
French was the only Red Oak player named to the all-state team. Joining French on the second team were Amy Ihm of Dubuque-Wahlert, West Delaware’s Amanda Bries and Makenzie Harbaugh, Union’s Tori Zempel, Bishop Heelan’s Megan McCarthy, Charles City’s Jessie Sindliger and Williamsburg’s MacKenzie Bigbee.
Last season, French was named to third team all-state by the IGCA.
For Subbert, this marks the second straight season the sophomore has been named to the all-state team. Last season, Subbert was selected as an honorable mention.
Subbert is joined on this year’s second team by Bedford’s Cailia Raymond, East Union’s Katie Rice, Gehlen Catholic’s Amber Timmins and Steph Rohe, River Valley’s Kari Ludingson, Holy Trinity’s Ashley Tinguely and Woodward-Granger’s Maddie Bardole.
Rachel Sorenson is the other Stanton volleyball player selected to all-state. Sorenson was named a special mention, alongside
Bedford’s Kayla Lindenmeyer, Lisbon’s Melissa Alger, Boyden-Hull’s Nicole Ewoldt, Holy Trinity’s Emily Lewis, Cassidy Bangasser of North Butler, ArWeVa’s Morgan Roecker, East Union’s Rochelle Means and Algona’s Shelby Schindler.
Sorenson was an honorable mention for all-state by the Viqueens, last season.
