Friday Football: Class A Final Week Preview

The pressure is on Griswold Friday night as they need a win to clinch a playoff berth. They play another team that faces the same scenario in Logan-Magnolia.

Both teams are 3-3 in the district and are coming off losses from last week. Griswold was shutout by East Mills, while Logan-Magnolia lost to A-H-S-T.

The Tigers haven't faired well against Logan-Magnolia as of late. Griswold has lost three straight to the Panthers, with the last win coming in 2009.

If Griswold makes a run at the final playoff berth, they'll need to get the running game going again.

In last week's loss to East Mills, Kenneth Clary was held to 61 yards rushing on 19 carries.

Elsewhere, East Mills will be home Friday night as they take on West Monona. A win for the Wolverines could give them the second seed in 2A-8 and would give them a home playoff game for the first round.

East Mills holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Riverside. They take on a West Monona team that has lost six straight games.

With East Mills quarterback Logan Currin back in the fold, the Wolverines appear ready to make their first playoff appearance in this 11-man district.

Riverside will try to hold off a Westwood team that sits tied 3-3 in the district with Logan-Magnolia and Griswold.

The Bulldogs need a win and an East Mills loss to claim second place in the district. However, a loss wouldn't knock them out of the playoffs as they hold head-to-head tiebreaker advantages over both Logan-Magnolia and Griswold.

Westwood has a head-to-head tiebreaker against Logan-Magnolia.

The game with the least playoff implications will feature A-H-S-T taking on Underwood. The Vikings look to finish the regular season with an undefeated record. Underwood will try and play spoiler and get that second win in the district.
