Friday Football: Class A Week 2 Preview

Here is a preview of the teams playing in Class A District 8 Friday night.

Nodaway Valley at Griswold

It was a rough start for Griswold last week as they lost to St. Albert. They'll try to avoid a 0-2 start when they take on Nodaway Valley.

Nodaway Valley also had a rough week 1 as they were shutout by Mount Ayr, 44-0.

Last season, Griswold won the meeting 7-3. In fact, Griswold is 11-5 lifetime against Nodaway Valley.

Clarinda Academy at East Mills

It's the home opener for East Mills. They knocked off Shenandoah last week and with a win Friday against Clarinda Academy, they could be 2-0 heading into district play next week against Riverside.

Clarinda Academy had a bye last week, but lost in week 0 to Clarke.

The player to watch for East Mills will be Colby Jennings, who rushed for 236 yards against Shenandoah.

Riverside at Shenandoah

This game was also covered in the Class 2A preview. Riverside is coming off a win against Audubon, while Shenandoah lost to East Mills.

Riverside did get the win against Shenandoah, 12-6, last year.

Logan-Magnolia at IKM-Manning

Logan-Magnolia began the season with a win last week against Missouri Valley, 40-14. They play an IKM-Manning team that narrowly lost to OA-BCIG.

IKM-Manning was Logan-Magnolia's only regular season loss last season. IKM-Manning won the game last year 26-7.

A-H-S-T at Audubon

As mentioned above, Audubon is coming off of a loss in week 1 to Riverside. A-H-S-T meanwhile started out the season with a win against Tri-Center.

A-H-S-T won last year's meeting against Audubon 36-20. It was the first meeting for both teams since 1998.

Tri-Center at Underwood

Underwood looks to start 2-0 in non-district play, but first they must avenge their 49-9 loss from last season to Tri-Center.

Tri-Center is coming off of a loss to A-H-S-T in week 1. Underwood meanwhile scored a 19-9 win last week versus Treynor.

West Monona at Missouri Valley

Both teams lost in week 1 and will try to avoid the 0-2 start. Missouri Valley won last year's meeting, 47-12.

Westwood at Maple Valley-Anthon Ono

MVAO got the win last week over West Monona. Meanwhile, Westwood started out the season with a week 1 win against Woodbury Central, 42-40. MVAO won last year's meeting 49-16.
