Grace Gaylord, 93

Grace Charlotte Gaylord (Woods), 93, of Council Bluffs, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012.

Grace was born to Russell and Ruth Chickering Woods July 8, 1918, in Red Oak.

She is a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame and belonged to the Bowling Association for more than 50 years, as well as the VFW Aux.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman H. Gaylord, in 1978; and four brothers, Robert, Harry, Glen and Ross Woods.

Survivors include five children, Jannette (Cathy) Chavez, Jim (Irene) Gaylord, Ron (Dee) Gaylord, all of Council Bluffs, Diane (Tom) Valeika, of Missouri, and Patty (Peter) Sauer, of Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Awanda Woods, of Red Oak; cousin, Josephine Marcusson; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services took place Saturday, March 31, at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Interment was at Garner Township Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Cutler-O’Neill-Walnut Hill Reception Center.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
