Griswold faces tough Treynor

 GRISWOLD — A solid shooting performance wasn’t enough for Griswold to tame Treynor Thursday night, as  a hot-shooting Treynor team rumbled over Griswold, 71-40.

A sticky Treynor defense pestered Griswold most of the night, holding the Tigers to just 14 points in the first half, while the Treynor offense put up 36 points.

Both teams shot well from the field, going 55 percent from field goal range, Griswold on 15-of-27 shooting, and Treynor on 20-of-36 shooting.

Three Tigers finished with eight points each: Jacob Reynolds, James Reynolds and Jacob Lewis. Treynor’s Nolan Chapman led his team with 19 points and 9 rebounds, followed by Dillon Faubel with 16 points and Nathan Hill with 12.

Turnovers hurt the Tigers as they racked up 16, including 9 steals by Treynor.

Treynor won the battle of the boards, with 32 to Griswold’s 18.

But Treynor didn’t share the ball, having dished out just one assist in the game, compared to 10 assists for Griswold.
