Griswold falls short in district final versus Nodaway Valley

 STUART — The Griswold boys basketball season came to an end Thursday night as they fell short in their quest for a district crown when they lost the final to Nodaway Valley 77-42.

Jackson Lamb torched Griswold thanks to his 27 points, including 5-for-7 from three-point range, to clinch Nodaway Valley its spot in the substate game against East Mills Saturday night.

Griswold stayed close with Nodaway Valley early as they were tied 13-13 at the end of the first quarter.

However, Nodaway Valley outscored the Tigers 24-4 in the second quarter to take a 37-17 lead into halftime and never looked back. Nodaway Valley sealed the deal with 25 fourth quarter points.

Tyrel Peters finished with 13 points to lead the team.

Griswold reached the district final when they defeated Orient-Macksburg last Tuesday in the semifinals at Greenfield, 83-52.

The Tigers exploded for 30 first quarter points and despite Orient-Macksburg’s attempts to fight within striking distance, Griswold stayed ahead and never looked back.

Three Griswold players finished with double-digit points, most notably Peterson, who had 19 on 8-for-11 shooting with four assists and three rebounds.

Mason Boucher had 14 points, while Grant Haynes finished with 13.
