Guerra, Taylor picked for H-10 baseball team

 The Red Oak baseball team had two players picked for the Hawkeye 10 all-conference team, released last Wednesday.

Carlos Guerra and Jesse Taylor were both picked to be part of the team.

Guerra was chosen as a utility player for the second team, while Taylor was a honorable mention as an infielder.

Guerra was one of the top performers for Red Oak this season. The freshman finished the 2014 season as one of Red Oak’s leading hitters, with a .308 batting average and a .408 on-base percentage, as well as 20 hits, five of which were doubles, 13 runs scored and nine RBIs.

Additionally, Guerra made three starts on the mound. 

He was 0-1 with 17 1/33 innings pitched, accumulating a 4.44 EA with 28 strikeouts.

Taylor also made his impact at a variety of positions.

The sophomore had a .310 on-base percentage with 10 hits and eight runs scored. On the mound, Taylor was 1-6 with a 5.07 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings pitched. 

As an infielder, Taylor had a .974 fielding percentage with 18 assists and 19 putouts.

Both Guerra and Taylor were part of the Red Oak Express’ All-Area team, released last Tuesday. 

Guerra was picked for first team, while Taylor was a second team pick.
