RO GIRLS TENNIS

Clarinda edged Kuemper Catholic 28-27 in the team scoring to claim two team championships at the Hawkeye Ten Girls Tennis Championships last Wednesday in Red Oak.
The Tigers finished tied with Denison for ninth place with five points.
Red Oak’s Mariel Ramirez went 2-2 in No. 1 singles and defeated Glenwood’s Kaitlyn Mullanix for seventh place. Sophie Snyder placed eighth in the No. 2 singles.
In the doubles, the Tigers’ Bree Mitchell and Lauren Dean were seventh in the No. 1 bracket while Mariella Hernandez and Anna Butz won their opening round match but finished outside the medals.
Clarinda senior Riley Nothwehr claimed the No. 1 singles championship and Ella Schwarte from Kuemper Catholic was the No. 2 singles champ.
Kuemper’s team of Sophie Tidgren and Charlotte Schwabe captured the No. 1 doubles championship while Clarinda’s Chandy Nothwehr and Alivia Higgins took home the No. 2 doubles championship.

RO BOYS TENNIS
Tigers eighth at H-10 tennis tournament

The Glenwood boys placed ninth at the Hawkeye 10 Conference Boys Tennis Tournament at Graham Park in Carroll last Monday.
Shenandoah won the team title behind a sweep of the doubles brackets with Luke Daoust and Ryan Lawrence winning the No. 1 doubles title and Drew Morelock and Levi Rystrom winning No. 2.
The Tigers finished with nine team points for eighth.
“With a fifth place finish last year, eighth place is a little disappointing, but tournament play is heavily dependent on how lucky you are with the draw and your performance in the first round. Getting off to a slow start in the morning hurt our point potential, but I am proud of the way our boys rallied as we played much stronger in the afternoon.”
The Tigers’ duo of Ethan Strunk and Dillan Rydberg placed fourth in the No. 2 doubles bracket, and Brett Erickson and Landon Gigstad placed fifth in the No. 1 doubles bracket.
