Tigers fall to Shenandoah, 49-13
Red Oak scored the game’s first touchdown but Shenandoah responded by scoring 49 straight points on its way to a 49-13 win over the Tigers in Class 1A, District 8 football Friday at Russ Benda Field in Red Oak.
The Tigers (0-7) got on the board when a bobbled punt snap by the Mustangs (3-3) set up Adrian Gaunt’s three-yard touchdown run in the opening minutes of the game.
But Red Oak’s 6-0 lead wouldn’t hold for long.
Gabe Buttry responded with an 80-yard touchdown to take a 7-6 lead.
The Mustangs’ lead would swell to 37-6 at the half.
Buttry finished his night with 256 yards and three touchdowns.
Camden Youngblood added a fourth quarter touchdown for the Tigers.
Red Oak will head to Treynor Friday for a district match up. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
