Wolverines cap week with second straight sweep

The East Mills volleyball team capped its week with a second non-conference sweep Thursday in Malvern.
The Wolverines (22-7 overall, 5-1 in the Corner Conference) dominated East Union 25-7, 25-4, 25-5 in the sweep victory.
“We played really well tonight hitting .441 efficiency and serving 97 percent as a team,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner.
Brooke Jones had 11 kills and Evelyn Stoakes 10 to lead East Mills.
Venna Sayers and Brynn Williams directed the offense with 10 set assists each.
Loycee Palmer served 23-for-23 and Evelyn Stoakes served 24-of-25 with nine aces.

Bedford 11-11-11
East Mills swept Bedford 25-11, 25-11, 25-11 in non-conference volleyball last Tuesday in Malvern.
“We started off the match a little rocky, making some unforced errors, but the girls re-focused and improved throughout the match,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner.
Loycee Palmer led the way for the Class 1A, No. 11 ranked Wolverines with 13 kills. Ava Grindle added 10 kills and Brooke Jones nine.
Venna Sayers keyed the East Mills offense from her setter position. Her 27 assists on the night put her over 1,000 set assists for career. She also went 27-for-27 at the service line with two aces.
Ellie Hagen led the defense with 12 digs.
Macy Musich had six kills to lead Bedford.
