Insubordinate senators “fools”

A 1966 Stanley Kramer film entitled “Ship of Fools” won eight Academy Awards, including best picture.

The story the film tells is of a group of misfit passengers on a ship in 1933 traveling to a Europe that is becoming over-powered by Nazis.

When I heard 47 Republican senators had signed a letter to Iranian officials in regard to President Obama’s nuclear arms talks with Iran, the title of Kramer’s film became appropriate to describe another blunder by the right.

It was disturbing to learn Iowa’s Sen. Grassley had signed the letter. Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham are always “on first,” so no surprise there. As a way to be noticed, the newly-elected might sign anything; never mind the harm it brings to our country.

Outside of the federal government, there is a condition known as insubordination. It is defined as the willful rebellion and defiant behavior to lawful authority.

Insubordination occurs in the workplace in the employer/employee relationship. It occurs in large corporations and in the military, to name a few, and the culprits are usually forced to resign.

When will citizens see justice for the insubordination by elected government officials?
