Jeanette K. Janssen, 39

Jeanette Kay (Swank) Janssen, 39, of Emerson, died Aug. 2, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak after an extended illness.

Jeanette was born Feb. 27, 1970, in Shenandoah, the daughter of Elmer and Sharon (Baldwin) Swank. She graduated from the Red Oak High School in 1988 and worked for Communication Data Services where she had several years of perfect attendance and many dear friends. On June 8, 1996, Jeanette married Roger Janssen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home on an acreage Northwest of Red Oak near Wales.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother-in-law, Marie Janssen. Survivors include her husband, Roger Janssen of rural Emerson; daughter, Brooke Janssen of Emerson; parents, Elmer and Sharon Swank of Shenandoah; brother, Brian (Andrea) Swank of Shenandoah; father-in-law, Robert Janssen of Curlew; brother-in-law, Marvin (Jane) Janssen of Ruthven; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Janssen of Newton and Melinda Hartman of Mason City.

Funeral services were held Aug. 6 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Red Oak with Pastor Jerome Wagoner officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Brooke Janssen Education Fund.
