Joyce Smith, 53

Joyce Smith, 53, of Red Oak, died on May 13, 2009, at the Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, Neb. after a five year battle with cancer.

Joyce Smith, the daughter of Grady W. and Mildred (MacDonald) Leeper was born July 8, 1955, near Bently, Okla. Joyce graduated from Atlantic High School in l973. She moved to Red Oak in l980 and began working at D & L Company. Joyce was united in marriage to Greg Smith on July 31, 1981, in Estherville. Joyce received her LPN license in l987 and became a Registered Nurse on June 12, 1992. She worked at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, mainly in Oncology.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father and sister, Donna Jean Rodriguez.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Greg Smith of Red Oak; children: Lisa Jenkins of Red Oak; Joe Smith of Red Oak; Heather (Rob) Smith of Red Oak; five granddaughters; mother: Mildred Roof of Red Oak; brothers: Harold and Bill Leeper and Charles Roof of Red Oak.

Funeral Service were held on May 16 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, with Rev. Caryn Pedersen, officiating.
