Karen D. Hardy, 57

Karen D. Hardy, 57, of Des Moines died Aug. 19, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Karen was born on Dec. 30, 1951, in Villisca, to Kenneth and Lois Lynam and married Merle Hardy on Sept. 17, 1971. She was a dedicated Mercy Family Medicine Residency Program employee for the last 12 years.

She is preceded in death by her father and two brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her children: Patrick (Jill) Hardy; Cassie (Mike) Johnson; Kenneth (Breana) Hardy; Melissa (Brian) Hiskey; Micah Hardy; and eight granddaughters. She is also survived by her mother, Lois Lynam, and sisters Marilyn (Matthew) Pacheco, Patricia Wyrick, Carolyn (Wayne) Faust and Marianna (Bill).

Memorial services were held Aug. 22 in the Nodaway Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be directed to the Susan G. Kolman Foundation.
