Leonard A. Danielson, 82

Leonard A. Danielson, 82, Villisca, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Leonard was born Sept. 8, 1931, north of Villisca, to Glen and Dorothy (Powers) Danielson. He attended country school north of Villisca and graduated from Villisca High School in 1949.

He married Peggy Kimel in June 1952 and they farmed north of Villisca until Peggy passed away in April 1989. Two children were born to this union, Dennis and Dale.

In September 1990, Leonard married Betty Gail Poore. Leonard, Betty Gail and son Dallas Poore made their home on the farm north of Villisca. They continued to be engaged in farming until they both moved to Omaha in 2006. Leonard also worked in security guard positions in Red Oak, Shenandoah and Omaha until he retired altogether in 2012.
Leonard was very proud to have been a member of the Iowa Army National Guard Company F 168th Infantry in Villisca from 1947 to 1956.

Leonard loved farming, livestock and machinery. He was very proud of his sons, stepson and their families. Leonard loved people and life, and he was always quick to help others. Leonard particularly enjoyed banter with people and loved to tease and be teased.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Peggy.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty Gail; sister, Elaine Kelley of Oceanside, Calif.; children, Denny Danielson and wife Jana of Moline, Ill., Dale Danielson of Tahlequah, Okla. and Dallas Poore and wife Laura of San Diego; grandchildren, Sharla Danielson of Bettendorf, Melissa (Danielson) Bocardo and husband Anthony of Goldsborough, N.C., Corbin Danielson and Kyla Danielson both of Goldsborough; and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Elizabeth Bocardo.

Celebration of life services for Leonard Danielson were Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Leonard donated his body to science. Internment will be at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
