In her column in the June 28 paper, Ms. Miner suggests that Donald Trump’s popularity stems from uncritical press coverage and suggests that people not rely on such mainstream media. She describes FOX News as a “propaganda mill” – which it probably is – but so is dailyKOS, one of her favorite websites.
I should point out that I turned my television off about 30 years ago and got off the Internet in 2004. I do read a lot of books and newspapers.
Ms. Miner should be happy that the media is pretty much ignoring Hillary! Clinton and her campaign.
I’d like to rehash some of Hillary!’s history of some 20 years ago. Shortly after hubby Bill was elected Arkansas attorney general, Hillary! was hired as an associate with the Rose Law Firm of Little Rock (note that at the time Hillary! was right out of law school and a stereotypical hippie, complete with extreme left-wing politics, not someone a major, very conservative law firm would be likely to consider for employment).
When Bill was inaugurated governor of the state, Hillary! was, coincidentally of course, elevated to senior partner in that firm. During her 15-or-so-year-career with the Rose Law Firm, Hillary! appeared in court precisely five times, for which she received a six-digit annual salary. In my opinion, she was merely a conduit for clients of the Rose Law Firm to funnel money to the state attorney general and later to the governor; a real cynic might refer to that money as “bribes.”
When Bill moved to the White House in 1993, Hillary! left the Rose Law Firm, taking with her a box of Rose Law Firm documents related to the then ongoing Whitewater investigation then under subpoena from the Arkansas courts (but couldn’t be found) – said box mysteriously appeared in the White House kitchen and nobody had any idea how it got there.
Shortly after moving into the White House, Hillary! had the entire staff of the White House travel office fired so she could give the jobs to a gaggle of her friends and cronies. Of course she claimed she had nothing to do with it, but the staff was fired and her cronies were hired; when the situation became public, the actions were reversed.
Among her other activities was dabbling in the futures market, where she made a lot more money than professional traders would expect. It is suspected that she got to keep the gains on her trades but somebody else took up any losses on them, something that usually doesn’t happen with professional traders.
Then there were was her attempted takeover of the American health care system. She got a bunch of her cronies together and came with “Hillarycare,” forerunner of Obamacare. Fortunately, she couldn’t foist it on the American people, although a form of it was imposed on military dependents and retirees as “Tricare,” and later expanded to include all military personnel. She set up a group to develop her health care plan, but kept no records of meetings and none of the participants were officially appointed or confirmed to anything. In fact, one of them, Ira Magaziner, was cited and convicted of lying to Congress. During her campaign to get Hillarycare enacted, she made a point of bad-mouthing pharmaceutical companies and causing their stocks to go down. And, by the way, she made a couple of tons of money by selling those stocks short as they were going down (as a result of her actions).
Hillary!, of course, held no official government position during the Clinton administration. She was merely the president’s wife – and she couldn’t be prosecuted for profiting from her government position, despite the fact that she did profit massively from her activities. Note that while the preceding events occurred in the 1990s, they do show the kind of person she is.
I have a couple of essays about Hillary! that date from that period, and, as I noted, it’s probably good for her that nobody has dug up any of that particular dirt.
