To the Editor:
Although the next National Ag Day is still five months away, I just want a moment to say that taking time to celebrate agriculture should happen more than just once a year.
Growing up in rural Illinois, our community was much like this one. Farming was our family’s primary source of income as it is for many families of southwest Iowa. We need to make sure we continue to support our local farmers – the crop, beef, pork, and poultry producers – all year long. A well-sustained ag industry is vital to maintaining a strong economy, locally and nationally.
I appreciate all who have chosen to make farming your livelihood. Your hard work and dedication to agriculture makes a greater impact than you can imagine.
