Linnea C. Peterson, 97


Linnea C. Peterson, 97, of Red Oak, died Nov. 29, 2009, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Linnea Cecilia Peterson, the daughter of Carl and Cecilia (Jonson) Fahlen, was born along with her twin brother on July 3, 1912, in Stanton.

Linnea was raised near Stanton. As a young adult she lived in the Nyman community. Linnea married Paul R. Oakleaf on Dec. 21, 1935, at Stanton, he died on Feb. 25, 1956. Linnea was later married to Lawrence C. Peterson on Dec. 14, 1957, in Red Oak. Linnea and Lawrence made their home on their farm in the Nyman community until 1970, at which time they moved into Red Oak. Linnea worked for Union Carbide Battery Company until retirement. Following retirement from Union Carbide, Linnea waitressed at the Red Lion Restaurant. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak.

Linnea was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Paul Oakleaf and Lawrence; twin brother, Leonard Fahlen and brother, Swan Fahlen.

Linnea is survived by relatives and friends.

Funeral Service were held Dec. 2 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak with Rev. John Swenson officiating.
