Lois McCoy, 86

Lois Marie McCoy, 86, Red Oak, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at her residence.

Lois was born Dec. 11, 1927, the daughter of Earl and Blanche (Damewood) Sickels. She graduated from Coburg High School and started teaching at West #9 school near Coburg. Later she was a substitute teacher at Red Oak, Coburg, Wales and Stennett.

Lois married Paul McCoy Jan. 3, 1948, in Tabor. They made their home in Red Oak all of their married life.

Lois was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1960. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, fishing and emailing family and friends. Lois was an accomplished seamstress and had a sewing shop in her home for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Paul McCoy Jan. 12, 2013; son, Micheal “Micky” McCoy; daughter-in-law, Sharon McCoy; and sister, Mary Jo Tackitt.

Survivors include her sons, Robert McCoy and wife Judi of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Max “Tony” McCoy of Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren, Melinda Lucky and husband John of Oakland, Michele Johnson and fiancé Gerry Gatzemeyer of Sioux City, Emily DeFoor and husband Chris of Ft. Collins, Colo., Susan Darr and husband Brandon of Homer, Alaska, and Marie Zimenoff and husband Aaron of Ft. Collins; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joy Frame of Lincoln, Neb.; brothers-in-law, Robert McCoy and wife Pauline of Creston, and Jerry McCoy of Louisville, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hansen of S.D., Donna McCoy of Baypoint, Calif. and Barbara McCoy of Centralia, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
