Marching to Superior Ratings

“The Red Oak High School Tiger Marching Band for a fantastic weekend at the Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree in Clarinda,” said Dan Black, director. 

“The band did an exceptional job throughout the day performing with spirit and pride. Not only that, the band placed in the top three in both the parade and field competitions.” 

Black said the band earned Division I - Superior ratings in every category of every ballot in the parade competition and earned third place in Class 2A. Later that day on the field, the band performed the UPrising Show and earned third place in Class 2A, outperforming four other schools in attendance. 

“Additionally, Oscar Torres was named Outstanding Marcher for our performance, and our drum majors, Abigail Sherman and Elsa Wemhoff, won the Best Drum Majors caption award out of all 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A bands,” Black added.
