Mary A. Magneson, 82

Mary A. Magneson, 82, Red Oak, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center after an extended illness.

Mary was born Feb. 23, 1930, north of Stennett to Kirk and Ethelyn (Harover) Samples. She married Duane Magneson Feb. 19, 1950. in Stanton.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Willard, Earl and Elvin Samples; and a sister, Effa Anderson.  

Survivors include her husband; a son, Douglas Magneson of Belleville, Ill; a daughter, Kathryn Wetzel of Red Oak; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Samples of Seattle, Wash. and Kirk Samples, Jr. of Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service was 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. George Hooper officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Iowa Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
