Montgomery County YMCA 2011 Live Healthy Iowa Program

The Montgomery County Family YMCA announced it will once again be coordinating a Montgomery County team competition for the 2011 Live Healthy Iowa (LHI) Program. Cooperative partners for the 2011 program are once again the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and the Red Oak HyVee.
The 2011 LHI is a statewide, Web-based 100 Day Challenge (Jan. 20 – April 29) that encourages teams and participants to make small, realistic changes in diet and physical activity habits that will last a lifetime.
Friends, family members and coworkers form teams (made up of two – 10 participants) which compete to track collective weight loss percentage and/or minutes of physical activity on a weekly basis.
Some of the program “perks” available to LHI participants include a LHI Training T-shirt, email tips on activity, nutrition and recipes, 100 days of access to Training Peaks, a free one-year magazine subscription, personal Tracking page with daily journal and a chance to win team incentives and individual prizes such as gift cards, bikes or a Caribbean Cruise for two.
To help teams reach their goals, the Montgomery County Family YMCA will allow LHI participants free use of the YMCA facility on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday throughout the 100 days of competition with their LHI Access Card.
Registration for the 2011 LHI Program starts Dec. 15 and will continue through the Feb. 1, 2011. Registration can be done on-line at www.livehealthyiowa.org or through the mail. Registration forms are available at the Montgomery County Family YMCA.
