NEW Update: Weather Watch: Tornado Watch for Southwest Iowa

8:47 p.m. update: There's a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Mills County, as well as Western Montgomery and Page Counties until 9:45 p.m.

7:15 p.m. update: The tornado watch has been extended until 2 a.m. for this area.

3:34 p.m. update: Montgomery, Mills and Page Counties have been included in the flash flood watch. The watch is in effect until late Monday.

OMAHA — The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) and the National Weather Service (NWS) of Omaha have issued a tornado watch for Montgomery, Mills, Page and Cass Counties until 10 p.m. Monday.

The watch was issued shortly after 3 p.m. and extends North of Interstate 80 to Denison and West to most of Nebraska.

In counties to the East, such as Union and Adams County, there's a flash flood watch which will go into effect at 7 p.m. Monday and will expire Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Some storms could be severe, bringing large hail and strong winds. The low, NWS predicts, will be in the upper 60s.

New rainfall amounts could be between a quarter to a half inch.

There's a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday, mainly after 1 p.m., according to NWS.
