Back to school time in Red Oak

It’s back to school time for students at the Red Oak Community School District.
Administrators and teachers welcomed kids back last Wednesday morning. Inman Elementary principal Jane Chaillie said she and the administrators are pleased to be kicking off the new year.
“Our students are very excited, but also maybe having the realization that summer is now over. I can’t even begin to express how excited all of our Inman teachers are to have our building filled again with students eager to learn, and ready to fill the halls with laughter. We’re really looking forward to an outstanding school year,” Chaillie commented.
Last week was an interesting one for the students and staff, as the new school year began during some of the hottest days of the summer.
“Usually our kids are excited to play with their friends in the playground for the first day of school, but with the hot weather, we did inside recess to make sure everyone was safe. I saw a lot of water bottles come in with the kids too, and that’s fantastic because we wanted to make sure they all stayed cool and healthy,” stated Chaillie.
For the first week back, Chaillie said teachers worked to build community in the classroom.
“We know that every kid has a family at home, but we also have a family in our classroom. Our teachers focused on school family and helping build those connections in the classrooms so that all the students knew they played an important part in the dynamics of every single classroom.”
