Fire in Villisca
Area fire departments tackled a fire in Villisca this past weekend.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Dec. 31, the Villisca Fire Dept was dispatched to 900 S. U Ave. for a report of a structure that had been on fire, however, the home occupants believed they had the fire out.
Upon arrival, firefighters found extensive fire damage to the back porch area and that there was still active fire that had spread into the attic.
Mutual aid was dispatched/received from Villisca EMS, the Stanton Fire Department, Grant Fire Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Communications, and Villisca Public Works.
Firefighters were on scene for roughly two hours extinguishing the fire in the attic.
Damage amount is unknown at time of the report, the structure is still livable.
No injuries to the occupants or any fire/rescue personnel. The fire is believed to have originated in the area of the electrical wiring for an outside security
