Grain Craft fire

At 9:07 a.m. on Nov. 23, the Red Oak FD was dispatched to Grain Craft at 2049 Fernwood Ave. for a fire in the exterior processing stacks. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered both exterior stacks with flames showing. Therefore, mutual aid was called and received from the Elliott and Stanton fire departments.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire with the utilization of the aerial. No injuries were reported and fire/ground operations were terminated at 10:34 a.m. The fire was contained to the 2 exterior processing stacks. Damage estimates are unknown at this time, and the damage continues to be further assessed by Grain Craft maintenance personnel. The facility remains in operation at this time.
