No work disruption from mold problem

 Montgomery County officials are ironing out details for mold removal at the County Public Health offices at 1109 Highland Ave.

Maintenance Director Dan Wright said the  problem was due to water on the roof.

“Back before we got the roof fixed, water was leaking into the ductwork and would sit there. Mold spores need dark and water, so it was the perfect place to grow.

“I don’t know if it’s extensive in the duct work, but we’ve definitely found it there,” Wright said.

Officials are considering two removal methods, one chemical, the othe electrical.

“It’s an electronic unit that goes into the ductwork, and as the air passes through it, it kills all the mold,” Wright said. 

It’s unclear whether employees will be displaced if they have to use a chemical treatment. The cost of both methods is being reviewed.

At the present time, it’s business as usual at the Montgomery County Public Health offices.

A worker who chose to go unnamed said that they had not been displaced by the mold problem, and none of their current services have currently been disrupted.
