Golfers compete at district

Red Oak shot a team score of 352 in Class 2A district golf action.

Jake Reeve paced the Tigers with an 18-hole score of 86, while Beau Boeye, Nick Philby, Ethen Schoonover, Dan Carlson and Ian Madeiros carded respective scores of 87, 89, 90, 93 and 100.

“It was a beautiful day for golf but unfortunately the fast greens and tough pin placements and the pressure of the 2A District Tournament took their toll on all golfers, but especially the Red Oak Tigers,” said coach Boeye. “From tee to green, they managed to play well but too many putts can be costly.

“It was too bad for our seniors Nick Philby and Ethen Schoonover but the other 3 juniors and 1 freshman had a great experience to build next year’s season on, which we plan to take all the way to the state Tournament.”
