It goes beyond being right or left
It’s awesome to watch how Americans have risen to voice.
Major changes for our country are feasible. If you look over the last year there have already been a few big changes.
Now we have hit a point when voices are used to express concern for the direction this government is headed.
It is not about being a Republican or Democrat; it is about being an American. We live in a country where you have the right to voice your opinion. Be it positive or negative you are free to speak to our elected officials.
Most of us, I believe, are in agreement our government is not conducting the business of the people, it is simply not working. There’s a crack in the fundamental governmental foundation, in my opinion the crack can be summed up as follows:
Our elected officials are not listening to the good folks that put them to work in the first place, hence creating a fertile breeding ground for mistrust and miscommunication. Until our elected officials figure out they need to repair the crack, things will continue on what I perceive as a slippery slope of growing mistrust.
We are on shaky ground with this unstable foundation, people are making their voices heard, my only hope is that the politicians understand “We the People” put you to work, wake up and listen, do not try to discount our expression as “The Mob”, “Astroturf”, “Brown Shirts” the list goes on and on. People are starting to see certain things and they’re saying to themselves, “I don’t want this, I need to say something.”
From the right or the left, people are gathering in town halls. Most of the people are speaking as Americans not as Republicans or Democrats.
There were all sorts of questions at these town hall meetings. People seemed confused. I know that describes me at this point. My question that I would like you to ponder is simple. A government that is, however, elected by the people, for the people, to do the work of the people, then why does any Legislative proposal have to be so convoluted with “Legalese” that it takes a lawyer that has been practicing for 50 years to even make an attempt at making sense of what the Bill outlines. This behavior simply does not represent the majority of Americans and it never will.
If politics have never interested you, it is time you got interested. Things are at a critical point, if you aren’t informed and don’t voice your opinion, decisions will be made for you.
My only request is to get yourself informed do everything you can to learn about the issues before you try and speak on them. It is a little hard to convince the government to change a decision they have already made and it is very hard to make your voice heard if you are not educated on the issues. That’s why it is vital to educate, articulate, and strongly voice your opinion before the decision becomes final.
As an American I can honestly say I have been impressed by the people who stood up and spoke about their concerns.
We are all in this together, for better or worse. All of us should be trying to work together, no matter what ‘side’ you belong to, to ensure our choices remain ‘our’ choices. It is not about Red and Blue, it’s about Purple.
The Constitution states that we have the right to freedom of speech. Take advantage of this right and use your voice. You can speak freely, it’s your right as an American. Your rights are like your mind, you need to exercise them regularly. If you don’t, they may start to get weak, you may one day wake up and wonder “Did I lose my mind, or was it my rights that were lost?”
