Henderson man wins the Red Oak's 15th annual Turkey Trot
RED OAK – Possibly the best way to work up that Thanksgiving hunger is to run two to five miles in the 15th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot last Thursday morning.
The annual two-mile and five-mile run and walk were hosted by the Montgomery County Family YMCA and sponsored by Hy-Vee and Fareway food stores who donated gift cards and certificates to the winners of the different age divisions.
The overall winners for this year’s two-mile run were Jared Hoffman of Henderson, who ran in the boys’ 13-18 age group, and Allison Young of Elliott, who ran in the girls’ 13-18 age group.
A much longer run was ahead of the five-mile competitors. Josh Blue of Council Bluffs was the overall male runner, running in the 19-29 age group. Angie Eberly of Highland, Kan. took the Turkey Trot crown in the women’s 40-49 age group and the overall winner.
The individual age groups were won by the following: Two-Mile Male 12 and Under – Gavin French (Red Oak), Ages 13-18 – Jared Hoffman (Henderson), Ages 19-29 – Austin Haynes (Griswold), Ages 30-39 – Marty Rieken (Oakland), Ages 40-49 – Tim Osterholm (Little Rock, Ark.), Ages 50-59 – Lou Soukup (Beaver Lake, Neb.), Ages 60 and Over - Fred Hildebrandt (Griswold). Two Mile Female 12 and Under – Claire Campbell (Shenandoah), Ages 13-18 – Allison Young (Elliott), Ages 19-29 – Rachel Soe (Red Oak), Ages 30-39 – Jara Johnson (Omaha, Neb.), Ages 40-49 – Bev Saye (Shenandoah), Ages 50-59 – Marian Hoffman (Henderson).
Five-Mile Males: Ages 13-18 – Dylan Berry (Red Oak), Ages 19-29 – Josh Blue (Council Bluffs), Ages 30-39 – Jared McLaren (Grimes), Ages 40-49 – Todd Nott (Plattsmouth, Neb.), Ages 50-59 – Jeff Blue (Council Bluffs), Ages 60 and Over – Mike Pattavina (Clarinda). Five-Mile Females: Ages 13-18 – Madison Waymire (Grimes), Ages 19-29 – Megan Williams (Rochester, Min.), Ages 30-39 – Kelsi Huseman (Clarinda), Ages 40-49, Angie Eberly (Highland, Kan.), Ages 50-59 – Sus Bristow (Helena, Mon.).
