Burford E. Berry, 89

Burford E. “Bud” Berry, 89, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at his home.

Bud was born March 12, 1922, in Diagonal. He grew up in Southwest Iowa, graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1939, and is brother to long-time Red Oak resident, Dennis Berry.

Bud enlisted in the Iowa National guard in 1938, and was on active duty with Company E, 168th Infantry, 34th Division, when World War II began.

After the war, Bud relocated to Idaho, but returned to Iowa numerous times to visit family and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Kathryn Berglund and Margaret Ann Greenwalt; two brothers, John R. Berry and Dennis D. Berry.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda, of Nampa; niece, Susan Berry, of Griswold; nephew, David Berry, of Elliott; and other loved relatives.

Graveside services with military honors took place Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho. At Bud's request, he was buried in a pine box. Services were under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
