RO takes fourth at Griswold meet
GRISWOLD—Last Tuesday, the Red Oak girls track team finished fourth at the Griswold Girls Tigers Relay. The team finished with a score of 75 points in the AA division.
Red Oak's big win came in the 4x200 relay, when the team of Nikki Graber, Erica Jackson, Maddy Mann and Gabi French won with a time of 1:59.09, holding off Corning and Riverside.
Mann also had another second place finish in the 100-meter dash, losing out to Griswold's Larissa Backhaus.
In the field events, Kristi Yardas had her best result of the season thus far with a second place finish in the discus throw. Yardas had a throw of 90'10”, four feet behind Underwood's Amy Lintner.
Fresh off her win at the Lady Tiger Relays, French finished third in the high jump with a jump of 4'6”. Her teammate Josie Snyder was behind in fourth.
Mara Kriebitzsch finished third, while Yardas was fifth in the shot put. Blake Bergren placed sixth in the long jump, jumping 14'0.5”.
Krista Fichter had a fifth place finish in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 1:12.56, which was the second best time in her heat.
Red Oak was scheduled to compete at Shenandoah last Thursday, but the meet was postponed due to inclement weather.
Tuesday, Red Oak will compete in Treynor for the Treynor Invitational. Then on Thursday, they’ll be on the road again, competing at Corning.
