Red Oak golf wins first meet of season, place in top 10 at LC

RED OAK — The Red Oak Tigers boys golf team picked up their first win of the season April 9 when they defeated both Corning and Villisca at the Red Oak Country Club.

Red Oak won with a team score of 190, three shots ahead of Corning. Villisca finished third with a score of 204.

Danny Carlson was the medalist for the Tigers as he finished his round with a 43. Runner-up for the meet was Britton Scwartz of Corning.

Zach Brower was close behind Carlson as he finished the meet with a 45.

Ryan Plambeck also had a score under 50 strokes, recording a 49.
Nick Carlson and Brandon Farnum were each tied with 53.

Red Oak finished ninth out of 14 teams competing at the Lewis Central Invitational, held at Fox Run in Council Bluffs Thursday.
Red Oak finished with a team score of 382.

Danny Carlson and Brower tied for the top score, each recording a 90 for the meet.

Plambeck was nine shots back of Carlson and Brower, finishing with a 99.

Josh Craig scored a 103, while Nick Carlson and Cade Johnson had 109 and 110, respectively.

Last Tuesday, Red Oak took seventh at the Shenandoah Mustang Golf Invitational, recording a score of 392.

Brower was the top golfer for Red Oak, as he had an 86 for the meet. Danny Carlson was six shots back with a 92.

Nick Carlson had a 106, while Plambeck and Craig had a 108 and 109.

The team was on the road Monday at Glenwood, but results weren’t available as of press time.

Tuesday, they’ll be on the road as they face Sidney High School.
