Cornerstone laying ceremony conducted at law enforcement center

RED OAK — A Cornerstone Laying Ceremony, hosted by members of Red Oak Masonic Lodge, took place for the new Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center on Tuesday, June 5, in the parking lot east of the new building. The Center is scheduled to be open in about a month.

The ceremony was conducted by officers of the Grand Lodge of Iowa. Jerry Levay from Sioux City is Grand Master.  Members of the Knights Templar Grand Commandery led the colorful procession.

The ceremony is strictly symbolic being based on proven building techniques when stonemasons used the chief tools of their trade – the square, level and plumb – to ensure that the first block of their building was correctly laid. County Supervisor Donna Robison was Orator and gave an outline of the project, while thanking the community who made the project possible.
