Friday Football: Class A week 4
District play continues Friday night for Class A District 8 as both Griswold and East Mills are in action.
Griswold will be home Friday night to face A-H-S-T. They're coming off a close loss to Underwood and no doubt would like to get a win, if they want to stick around in the impending playoff races.
The Tigers will need to get their offense going as they've scored 21 points in their first three games. They'll play an A-H-S-T team that has won its last two games.
A-H-S-T handily defeated Westwood last Friday, 27-6. The last time these two teams met was in 2003. A-H-S-T got the win, 42-18.
East Mills will be on the road Friday as they play Westwood in Sloan. The Wolverines have shut out two straight opponents and have an opportunity to get a third one against Westwood.
East Mills defeated Riverside last week, 15-0. Westwood's losing streak is at currently at 28 games. They have not won a game since the 2009 season.
With a big game against Logan-Magnolia next week, East Mills will try and stay undefeated in the district.
Sloan is nearly two hours North on I-29, in between Onawa and Sioux City.
The other district games going on Friday night are Riverside at Logan-Magnolia and West Monona at Underwood. It will be a tough task for Riverside as they haven't defeated Logan-Magnolia since 2004. Logan-Magnolia is coming off a 60-0 win against West Monona.
Underwood will try to get to 2-0 in the district when they face West Monona. There has been a lot of successs for Underwood. They're 9-1 since 1996 against West Monona. The last time these two teams played was 2009 when Underwood won 14-13.
