Villisca holds off Bedford to advance to semifinals
VILLISCA—The Villisca boys basketball team advanced to the district semifinals after they defeated the Bedford Bulldogs last Thursday 65-57.
Bedford had the 27-22 lead at halftime, but Villisca was able to pull it together and score 43 second half points to advance on in the 1A district tournament.
The Blue Jays had a big night out of Travis Herzberg, who scored 24 points and was 10-for-16 from the free throw line. Herzberg also had six rebounds and two steals.
Damon Sunderman also had double-figure points as he scored 16 for the game on 6-for-12 shooting from the field, with eight rebounds.
Max Mauderly had 11 points and Austin Sorensen finished with 10 in the win.
Villisca is now 20-4 for the season. They will face off against South Page Tuesday night at home. The game will start at 7 p.m.
Should Villisca win, they would play the winner of Sidney and East Mills this Friday at Red Oak High School.
