Jean Hofer, 75

Jean L. Hofer, 75, Red Oak, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.

Jean Louise Hofer was born in Red Oak to Glen and Mildred (Sprague) Doan Feb. 21, 1938. She was raised in Villisca and graduated from Villisca Community High School and later attended Junior College in Bismarck, N.D.

In 1957, Jean married Lester Lundgren, and to this union two children were born, Patty Lundgren and Guy Lundgren. In 1967, Jean married Sam Hofer; they resided in the Minneapolis area until Sam’s death in 2003. She then returned to Red Oak to be near her mother. Jean enjoyed gardening and had a great love of animals.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Sam, April 24, 2003.
Jean is survived by two children, Patty Lundgren and Guy Lundgren both of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a brother, Charles Doan of Kansas City; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn.

Jean’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held.

Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
