Accidents
- On Jan. 27 at 10 p.m., a 2001 Chevy Impala owned and operated by Dylan Brown, 18, Red Oak, was southbound on K. Ave about half a mile south of 150th. Brown lost control on the gravel road and slid into the west ditch. The vehicle rolled and came to stop on its top on a fence belonging to Roger Pendleton. The vehicle was totaled at an estimated $3,500. Brown was cited for failure to have insurance.
- On Feb. 2 at 8:4 57 a.m., officers received a call about a fire hydrant and sign post that had been hit at the intersection of N. 8th Street and E. Coolbaugh Street. The caller met officers at the location and reported he had heard the accident at about 1:30 a.m. He saw a dark vehicle in the yard on the corner of 8th and Coolbaugh Streets. After a few minutes, the vehicle left, heading northbound on N. 8th Street. After half a block, the vehicle turned west into the alley. Officers photographed the scene and picked up several vehicle parts. Officers located the vehicle in the alley it was last seen. The broken parts matched the vehicle. Officers made contact with the driver, Trevor Pierson, 23, Red Oak, and determined Pierson had been heading eastbound on E. Coolbaugh Street. As Pierson approached N. 8th Street, he was moving too fast to stop or make the left turn. The vehicle, a 2010 Chrysler 300 Touring, continued east over the curb striking a street sign and fire hydrant. Some landscape stones around the corner were also damaged. The vehicle and fire hydrant continued 20 feet into the yard. Both airbags were deployed inside the vehicle and there was damage to the front end. Pierson was cited for failure to maintain control.
