Accidents

  • On May 27 at 8:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 2400 block of L Ave., for a roll over accident. Upon arrival, deputies began an investigation of the accident. Kerry Elizabeth Pryor said she was operating a 2008 F-350 northbound when she hit some soft gravel and lost control going into the east ditch and rolling the vehicle before coming to a rest on its side. Upon further investigation, it was found Pryor was not the operator of the vehicle. The operator was later identified as Cameron Pryor, 14, Red Oak. Multiple juveniles were reported injured in the accident. Following the investigation, Kerry Pryor was arrested for providing false information to law enforcement. Cameron Pryor was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and released at the time of incident. The investigation is still ongoing.
  • On May 28 at 4:43 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office responded to a single-vehicle property-damage accident. A 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, owned and operated by Ashley Dumler, 22, Stanton, was northbound on Q Ave. Dumler reported the left front tire blew out on the vehicle, causing her to lose control on the loose gravel. The vehicle entered the east ditch, traveled through the ditch and through a fence owned by Kit Johnson of Stanton. Estimated damage to the vehicle is $1,500. Damage to the fence is $500. The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Stanton Fire and Rescue and Red Oak Fire and Rescue.
  • On May 29 at 2:10 p.m., officers were called to a property-damage accident in front of U.S. Bank on E. Reed St. Neither vehicle had moved and photos were taken of the scene. A 1997 Ford F150 pick up, owned and operated by Robert Hale, 75, Red Oak, was backing out of the parking in front of the bank. Due to the angle and the height of the truck, Hale was unable to see a 1996 Ford Contour, driven by Brooke Carpenter, 20, Red Oak, coming around the square. Hale backed out in front of Carpenter. There was no damage to Hale’s vehicle. Carpenter’s vehicle had damage to the left front bumper light and fender. No citations were issued.
