ACCIDENTS

  • On March 14, at about 7:45 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident at the intersection of E. Corning and 8th Streets. Ryker Connell, 17, Red Oak, driving a 2007 Kia Optima owned Teresa Parris, Red Oak, was traveling north on 8th Street and had stopped at the stop sign. Morgan Roberts, 35, Red Oak, was traveling east on Corning Street in a 2007 Dodge Caravan owned by Hawkeye Ford, Inc. and had entered the intersection at 8th Street. Connell didn’t see Roberts’ vehicle and pulled into the intersection, striking Roberts’ vehicle. Damage to Connell’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000, and damage to Roberts’ vehicle was also about $3,000. Connell received a warning for failing to yield from a stop sign.
  • On March 19, at about 7:58 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 8th Street and U.S. 34. Anna Aufdenberg, 17, Red Oak, driving a 2001 Honda Accord was traveling north on 8th Street and slowed at the stop sign at the U.S. 34 intersection but did not stop. Aufdenberg’s vehicle entered the intersection where it struck a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee drive by Brian McCleary, 38, Villisca, which was westbound on U.S. 34. The McCleary vehicle left the roadway, rolled and came to rest on its top. McCleary was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and Aufdenberg was not injured. Damage to Aufdenberg’s vehicle was about $3,000, a total loss, while damage to McCleary’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000, also a total loss. Aufdenberg was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
