Red Oak opens season atRam Relays

The Red Oak boys track team got its season started April 4 by heading down Highway 34 to Glenwood to participate in the Ram Relays.

^{The Tigers had solid performances in multiple events to start their outdoor season. Here are the results from the Ram Relays:}

^{Field Events}

^{Cam Vanderhoof finished 13th in the long jump with a jump of 15’8,’’ while in the throwing events Colton Kinnison came in 34th in a strong discus field with a throw of 80’6.5’’., Hunter McMann added a 38th place finish with a throw of 74’2’’.  In a shot put field of 39, Carlos Guerra came in 18th with a throw of 36’10’’. Ethan Clark came in 22nd with a throw of 35’11’’, Cody Fouts came in 29th with a throw of 33’1.5’’, Mitchell Johnson came in 32nd with a throw of 31’4,’’ and Dillion Burns came in 35th with a throw of 30’9.5’’.}

^{Distance events}

^{Red Oak had two entries in the 3,200 meter run. Taylor Smith came in 14th with a time of 13:16.06, and Ethan Stewart followed by finishing 15th with a time of 14:38.76.}

^{In the 1,600 meter run, Red Oak had two participants. Josh Baumfalk came in 15th with a time of 5:42.16 while Jacob Cashett came in 16th with a time of 5:48.06.}

^{The 800 meter run had two Tigers in the field. Roberts finished 12th with a time of 2:26.45, followed by Eubank who came in 13th with a time of 2:27.19.}

^{Relay events}

^{In the 4x800 meter relay, the team of Codie Bentley, Liam Eubank, Josh Baumfalk and Cashett came in ninth with a time of 10:12.47. Another team from Red Oak consisting of Gus Cooper, Nick Turnball, Jake Sellers and Noah Roberts finished 11th with a time of 10:39.98.}

^{In the 4x100 shuttle hurdle Red Oak came in sixth with a time of 1:15.90 with a team of Vanderhoof, Isaac Bower, Clay Selberg and Francisco Rohner.}

^{In the 4x200 meter relay, the team of Hayden VanMeter, Dylan Graber, Rob Vial and Brock Isaacson finished fourth with a time of 1:37.36. Another team of  Isaac Pappas, Oscar Vega, Dillion Burns and Hunter Woods finished 10th with a time of 1:43.69.}

^{In the sprint medley, the team of VanMeter, Isaacson, Vial and Bentley came in sixth with a time of 4:02.64.}

^{The 4x100 meter relay unit of VanMeter, Graber, Woods and Isaacson finished in sixth with a time of 47.66. Vega, Rohner, Bower and Pappas finished 10th with a time of 49.58.}

^{Sprint events}

^{In the 100 meter, dash Hunter Woods led the way for Red Oak by taking 13th with a time of 12.47. Isaac Pappas came in 15th with a time of 12.70.}

^{Graber finished the 200 meter dash in 10th place with a time of 24.91. Selberg finished 13th with a time of 27.70.}

^{In the 400 meter dash Selberg had a very strong performance by finishing fourth of 20 with a time 54.88. Bentley came in 19th with a time of 1:05.03 and Fouts came in 20th with a time of 1:06.94.}

^{Hurdle events}

^{Red Oak had one participant in the 110 meter hurdles. Cam Vanderhoof finished 10th with a time of 20.39.}

^{In the tough 400 meter hurdles Fouts finished 11th with a time of 1:13.44.}

^{Weeks ahead}

^{The Red Oak boys track team will be getting a bit of a break in the schedule as the Tigers will not have any meets during the next week. Red Oak’s next chance at competition comes April 19 when Tri-Center, Riverside, Clarinda and Shenandoah come to Red Oak for the Varsity Relays.}

^{Following that meet Red Oak has the rest of the week off from meets, they will next be back in action April 26 when they go to an invitational in Mt. Ayr, then they close out April with a invitational that will have seven teams at Red Oak.}
