Red Oak Police investigate shooting

 The Red Oak Police Department detained a subject after an investigation into gun shots being fired Monday night, April 11, in the 100 block of West Joy Street.

A press release said the Montgomery County Communications Center received a call from a residence in that block about a male who was walking down the street shooting a firearm. The caller said he thought the subject fired the weapon into a vehicle parked along the street and possibly a house. The caller said the alleged shooter took off north from the area.
Red Oak police officers arrived within just a few minutes and established a perimeter in the area. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit arrived on scene and began a track of the suspect. The dog tracked tracked the subject north to the area of 1st and Prospect, where the dog lost the track and was unable to pick it up.
Officers on the scene determined there were at least three shots fired into the hood of a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo owned by Nakia Nicole Lamb of Red Oak. Preliminary reports stated that a shot could have been fired into a home in the area, but officers were not able to locate any home that had been struck. 
A subject was detained for questioning. The press release said, “Obviously with it being in the early stages of the investigation and further interviews to be conducted we are unable to release any information in regard to the subject at this time. The investigation is ongoing and we will release further information in regards to this incidence as they become available.”
The Red Oak Police Department released added its appreciation for the assistance it received from all of the other responding agencies.
