Supervisors extend Solutions contract for upcoming year

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors tackled a light agenda at its regular meeting May 31.
On the agenda was approval of an agreement with Solutions for the county’s IT services. County Auditor Stephanie Burke advised the supervisors that the rates had not changed from last year.
The cost of the service was $37,800. Burke said the cost did not split up the services into different levels.
“This just covers our licensing and the basic IT agreement that we have with Solutions for our IT infrastructure,” explained Burke.
The supervisors unanimously approved the renewal of the Solutions agreement for 2022-23, in the amount of $37,800.
Also under discussion was approval of an agreement between SWIPCO and Montgomery County for rural transit, in the amount of $6,000. Supervisor Donna Robinson said the cost remained the same as in past years.
“There was talk, maybe a year ago, that it may increase due to population changes, and the fact that they get federal dollars, but they have decided to keep the cost the same. Fuel increases are also not influencing the cost, it’s simply a flat rate for the rides provided,” said Robinson.
The supervisors approved the FY 2022-23 agreement with SWIPCO for rural transit, in the amount of $6,000.
In the secondary roads update, assistant to the engineer Barry Byers said road crews have been hauling rock, performing equipment maintenance, mowing roadsides, and doing bridge cleaning for inspection of the structural/steel bridges for inspection around the county. Byers estimated there were six in total remaining in the county.
“On the engineer’s side, we’ve been doing some survey work on upcoming projects and plan development. and Beau Boeye was down and installed our Zoom meeting hub at the secondary roads building, and it is operational,” Byers said.
Supervisor Randy Cooper asked if railroad bridge inspection was performed by the railroads themselves or handled by the county. Byers said the county inspected the bridges and passed the results of the inspections onto the railroad companies.
In other business, the supervisors:
• Approved the request for usage of the courthouse lawn for the annual Bible Reading Marathon. This year’s event will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 14.
