Muriel Greenlee, 97

Muriel Jean (Slack) Greenlee, 97, Woodbridge, Va., passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at Brookdale Lake Ridge in Woodbridge.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mike.
Muriel Jean was born Aug. 9, 1927, on the family farm near New Market. She was the only child of George and Emma (Jackson) Slack.  She attended rural schools until 1938, when she moved to Clarinda.  After graduating Clarinda High School in 1944, Jean worked as a secretary for the law firm of Stipe, Davidson and Hemphill until her marriage.   
On Aug. 5, 1946, she married Andrew M. (Mike) Greenlee, of Bedford, in Chicago, Ill.  To this union, two daughters were blessed, Laura and Linda. The family first lived in Avoca and in 1956, moved to Red Oak.  Muriel Jean was a secretary for the Iowa Power and Light Company in Avoca while her husband served in Korea.  She retired in 1983 after 20 years as a secretary for the Iowa Department of Transportation in the Construction Department in Red Oak.    
Mike and Jean retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1990.  After the death of her husband, in 2011, she moved to Woodbridge, Va., to live with family.   
In retirement, Muriel Jean loved traveling and golfing with her husband Mike and their many friends.  Her interests included gardening, genealogy, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of whom she was so proud.  She was a member of the Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark.
Surviving Muriel Jean are her children, Laura Dussault (Jean-Guy) and Linda Khan (Faruque);  grandchildren, Adrienne Dussault, Emily Olson Gault and Michael Khan, and great-grandchildren, John Gault and Cillian Khan.
Burial will be next to her husband in the Bedford City Cemetery, Bedford, at a later date.
